“Overall, I’ve really enjoyed doing Theatre Media. It feels like it’s slowed down as the course has gone on, but I still feel I’m learning useful things. The skills I’ve gotten are mostly practical, from doing hands-on learning of both performance and other stagecraft elements. I’m glad I’ve gotten the opportunity to collaborate on various projects, and encouraged to learn from mistakes.”
– Crow Gabriel (Theatre Media)

“Studying advertising at Charles Sturt has been great. All of the lecturers are really helpful and you’ll get hands-on experience with real scenarios such as dealing with ‘Mud at Splendor 2021’! When I completed my work placement, I could see exactly how the subjects I’d learned were utilised in the industry and how much I had already learned. If you like strategising, planning, and collaborating to execute a goal, you’ll love this course!”

Through this course, I’ve learnt industry-grade skills that I found extremely useful when I had the opportunity to intern with top marketing agencies and broadcasting specialists. I’m really glad that the University lecturers have been so helpful and encouraging throughout my course, I don’t think I would have enjoyed it as much without them.”

“When I started my course I didn’t know what to expect. Studying all aspects of communication (I had no specialisation), allowed me a behind-the-scenes look at how media is produced and the work that goes into it. It debunked a lot of assumptions I had about media production and the people involved; for that, I have to thank it. Likewise, the practical experience gained is absolutely essential for my future in the industry, particularly that gained at 2MCE-FM.”
– Duck Wilson (Communications)

“After missing out on acceptance into my dream course, studying journalism was my backup plan but not one that I have regretted in the slightest. I can’t wait for the beginning of my career and I owe it all to the friends that I have made and industry professionals and experiences I have been exposed to at Charles Sturt.”
– Onny Slack-Smith (Journalism)

“Studying Theatre Media didn’t come without challenges but overall I did enjoy the learning experiences and skills I gained. I gained great devised theatre skills and the ability to work with various different groups in my chosen industry. Because of my course, I was able to work with the Australian theatre in one of their major musicals which was an amazing learning opportunity. The artistic director I was working with had done my course previously and knew he could ‘throw me into anything’ and I would do my best. This interaction later enabled me to get a job once I had graduated.”
– Alice Cavanagh (Theatre Media)

What surprised me in Advertising was how versatile and creative the process of cultivating a wide-reaching and breakthrough idea could be. It allowed me to visualize creativity as a resource I could harness for connecting with people.”
